Hire

Are you looking for?

  • A quiet day exploring the rich biodiversity of the Murray backwaters
  • A multi-day canoe-camping expedition
  • Some kayaks delivered to your campsite
  • Advice on the best places to paddle, launch and camp
  • As an add-on, instructor-supported hire is available. - see below *

All hires include PFD's (life jackets) maps and dry bags.

As we don't have a shopfront, we meet you at the launch point (directions supplied via text/email on booking)

We transport the kayaks to the water for you, with the option for you to:

  • do one-way paddle - where we meet you at the end of the trip and transport you back to your car
  • paddle a round trip
  • have fun on the water next to your picnic spot

Our most popular trail is a leisurely 2 hour one-way paddle through three different weltand environments. It's only a 5 minute drive in our car/minibus back to the launch point (included in the hire charge)

Rates are available here.  There is no extra charge for delivery within 5km of Berri.  Delivery further afield is available at a reasonable rate.

If you'd like to transport the kayaks on your car or trailer that can be arranged too, provided we're happy that you are able to do so safely.  Don't forget your tie-downs.

*Instructor-Supported Hire: - A qualified kayak guide to paddle with you for part or all of your kayak hire

  • Instructor rate of $40/half hour is in addition to kayak hire
  • Rate is the same whatever the number of kayaks hired and people paddling.
  • Subject to the availability of an instructor (may not be available on long weekends or other busy times).
  • Please ring, text or email to book (instructor is not bookable online).
  • Instructor-supported hire  is not the same as our Guided Kayak Tours, which are usually for 3 hours at sunrise or sunset and include a guide, cuppa and local snacks break. See “Guided Tours” for tour information.
  • Instructor-support is not included in regular hire charges. It must be pre-arranged, and is an extra charge.  99% of hirers are fine without instructor support.

Riverland Accommodation

Are you wondering where to stay, on your visit to the Riverland? We created a list of accommodation options in the Riverland ranging from luxurious extravagance, to budget basics.

Our Riverland highlight! Our family of 4 (kids 8 and 10) loved the self guided kayak trail from near Berri to Lock 4. We weren't sure if kids needed their own kayaks (as they have kayaked a lot), but we ended up going 2 doubles which was perfect as meant we all didn't have to paddle as hard when there was a little bit of wind. Scenery and tranquility were fantastic through backwaters, lagoons and the main Murray River channel. Birdlife was also amazing. The one way transfer at the end back to our car was great as saved us back tracking. We'll be back to explore another part of the Murray next time we're back. Thanks again Kym and Karen for a great experience.
