Sunrise Tours

We LOVE watching sunrise on the water. That's why we're willing to get up early enough so that you too can watch the sun peep over the horizon, reflected on the glassy waters of the Gurra Gurra Lakes. From there we'll paddle along Gurra Gurra Creek to the River and enjoy the early golden light on Bookpurnong Cliffs over a cuppa, a snack of Riverland produce and a chance to stretch your legs. The tour concludes with gliding through the tranquil waters of the Ajax Achilles wetlands.

Tour photos will be available for purchase after the tour.

From the on time pick up (from our hotel) to the drop off, everything was perfect! We enjoyed the morning sunrise out on the water, which was incredible. Kym was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. He made sure that this experience was at a relaxing pace, giving us all time to soak in the surroundings. With lots of interest from the smaller winding creeks to the open river and the surrounding cliffs, there was so much to see and take in. Our girls are already asking when we can go back and do this again. I can highly recommend Canoe Adventures Riverland for all ages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I book a tour for only one person?

The minimum booking charge for any tour is the cost of 2 adults.  If you are wiling to pay for two, we are happy to run a tour for one person.

What time does the tour start?

Tour times vary according to the seasonally changing time of sunrise.  All tour start around 15 to 30 minutes before sunrise.  Accurate tour times are available by clicking on the "Book Now" button.

Will I get wet?

Probably not.  Capsizes are extremely rare.  Occasionally some people's unique paddling style may splash enough water to dampen clothing.  We supply dry bags to keep your valuables and jackets dry.  Your guide will be taking photos during your tour, so you can leave your camera and phone at home if you wish.

Are there any crocodiles?

No there are no crocodiles or alligators in South Australia.  Happy paddling.
